CodeToolPilot publishes editorial research reviews of AI developer tools. This page explains exactly what that means, so you can judge how much weight to give each review.
What we look at
- Official sources first. Product documentation, pricing and plan pages, changelogs, release notes, security and data-retention pages, and terms of service.
- Attributed third-party evidence. Public benchmarks and independent reporting, always named and linked, never presented as our own measurements.
- Patterns in public user feedback. Recurring themes in vendor forums, issue trackers and community discussions, described in general terms and attributed to where they come from.
- Ownership and status. Acquisitions, renames, shutdown notices and model-access changes, because they can matter more than any feature.
What we do not do
- We do not claim hands-on testing, timings or benchmark numbers we have not produced. If a review ever includes our own testing, it will say so explicitly and describe the setup.
- We do not publish star ratings, scores or “editor’s choice” badges. Each review instead says who the tool is best for and who should skip it.
- We do not accept payment for reviews, for placement, or for changes to a verdict.
- We do not invent quotes, testimonials, people or case studies.
Every review shows
- A quick verdict with concrete pros and cons, including real limitations.
- Pricing “as of” a stated month, with a reminder to confirm on the vendor’s own pricing page — AI tool pricing changes often.
- Alternatives, linked to our other reviews where we have them.
- A numbered list of the sources we actually used.
- The date the facts were last verified.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We check the claim against the source and update the review, including the “last verified” date.
How we make money
Some links to vendors may be affiliate links, which may earn us a commission if you buy. Commissions never decide what we review or what we conclude. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
